Bibliographic Knowledge Network

BibKN

The development of conStruct SCS has been greatly aided by the support of the Bibliographic Knowledge Network (BibKN or BKN). We are grateful for its support.

BibKN is a project to develop a suite of tools and services to encourage formation of virtual organizations in scientific communities of various types.

The project started in September 2008 with funding by the NSF Cyber-enabled Discovery and Innovation (CDI) Program. The major participating organizations are the American Institute of Mathematics (AIM), Harvard University, Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.

BKN's tools and services are designed to:

  • Aggregate and filter relevant documents from a wide variety of sources
  • Select and enhance the quality of the organization's bibliographic data, and
  • Attract students, teachers and researchers to contribute to the collaborative activities of virtual organizations.

BKN has an initial focus on the mathematics and statistical communities, though its tools are applicable to knowledge community.

Research support to BibKN has come in part from NSF Award 0835851.
